Why do we have humidity excess at home?
Humidity is a climatic factor that is defined as water vapor contained in the atmosphere. An excess of humidity, a poor ventilation and bad habits can turn our house into an insane and uncomfortable place for its habitants. The arrival of the rains, especially in wet season, usually brings with it moisture problems, especially in homes that are not well ventilated.
Humidity at home usually appear in the form of stains caused by mold, unpleasant odors, condensation of water on walls and windows or in a more imperceptible way, but not less dangerous for health.
Water is also produced by the fact of perspiring, cooking, washing, showering …activities that we do every day and that are related to water in one way or another. This humidity evaporates, and is present in the environment of our house, although we should not worry if it is within certain humidity levels.
Problems of humidity in the home and in health
Excess moisture brings many consequences. To begin with, it can damage the state of the painting and even the structure of the house. It can usually affect furniture, especially wooden furniture. The most common manifestation is mold in places where they receive more humidity.
In addition to this, the bad odors are accentuated more and become more persistent and a high level of humidity can also cause a greater proliferation of fungi and spores. An excess of moisture has a terrible effect on health but its symptoms do not usually show immediately but in the long term. Its effects are especially harmful in babies, the elderly and people with asthma, allergies, respiratory diseases or immunosuppressed diseases.
Being exposed to high levels of humidity in the environment increases the possibility of contracting certain respiratory diseases (such as asthma or sinusitis) and lung infections (such as bronchitis). And not only that, the moisture contained in the air can also cause immediate symptoms such as discomfort, chills, fatigue and shortness of breath, headache, bad odors …Cold and moisture are factors that can increase pain for people with rheumatic diseases or who have suffered muscle accidents or a broken bone.
In addition, the humidity in the walls is the ideal habitat for mites, fungi and bacteria that can cause many diseases and allergies. Many people end up developing fungal allergies, such as aspergillosis, which is caused by a fungus that especially affects babies and the elderly.

Tengo una pregunta. Los extractores de baño convencionales ayudan a la eliminación de humedad?
Hola Fernando,
Una de las áreas que mas humedad genera, precisamente es el baño. Una buena extracción de aire evita la humedad, malos olores, etc.
